BWT’s SiG Business Transformation Achievements

 In Uncategorised

BWT is entering its fourth year in the Sharing in Growth (SiG) Business Transformation programme. It is now close to completing a cycle where it has achieved leaner production methods and more cost-effective solutions.

BWT has been heavily invested in developing two new technologies: Additive Manufacturing (AM) and 3D NET Shape Performs. These applications go beyond ducting and BWT are confident they will play an integral part in increasing the UK’s share of the global aerospace market.

One of BWT’s AM operators identified an opportunity for an upgrade. An upgrade on current processes that saves time, reduces rework and scrap. BWT’s engineer developed a nozzle, designed for a large military aircraft.

This new 3D printed tooling, dramatically improves manufacturing productivity of an airflow control nozzle. Following a strategic and collaborative design process, the nozzle (pictured) is highly effective.

With the support of SiG, BWT is confident it will continue to advance its skills and lean production methods in the UK aerospace supply chain. It looks forward to sharing more innovative solutions in the future.
