ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING DESIGN ENGINEER

The Role

We are seeking to recruit for the above position which is a new role reporting to the Design Manager and will be based in both Engineering and Production.

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer will creatively address project related design issues and lead development feasibility/concept work on new development projects. This position is responsible for the design conceptualization of new product ideas, creative problem solving and facilitation of product development activities such as design and coordination of prototypes, evaluation of new concepts, solid modelling and drafting, participation in brainstorming and other team activities and coordination of mechanical testing as required.

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer will liaise frequently with key customers, Production Management, Quality, New Product Introduction teams, suppliers and Project Design Engineers. Focus is on “Design for Manufacture” using additive manufacturing, specifically on Stratasys Fortus 450mc equipment but other additive manufacturing technologies as and when the business requires.

Duties & Responsibilities

To control the technical aspects of projects to meet the requirements of the customer, organization and regulatory authorities.
Act as Additive Manufacturing subject matter expert in cross-functional projects to solve complex technical manufacturing problems.
Act as a technical consultant to internal and external stakeholders relating to Additive Manufacturing to functions such as Design Engineering, Production, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality and R&D etc.
Work with Materials Engineers to investigate properties, geometric accuracy and surface finish results to develop optimal print parameters and design allowables for existing and new the thermoplastics
Work with other engines to help refine the design of existing parts and optimize new parts to leverage additive manufacturing technologies

Skills, Training & Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Materials Science or related technical discipline; will have at least 2 years of experience in additive manufacturing in Fusion Deposition modelling techniques, preferably with Stratasys equipment; a working knowledge of industry materials and process specifications and experience of qualifying aerospace parts in flight critical applications.

PROJECT MANAGER

The Role

The Project Manager will be a primary focus for customer and project activities aimed at satisfying customer and business requirements for the supply of low pressure, low temperature air conditioning ducting for aircraft.

Core Objectives

Satisfactory completion and certification of all customer work in accordance with the work specification.
To ensure that company procedures and standards are adhered to when carrying out project management work.
To ensure that nominated projects are monitored and controlled from conception through to completion such that New Product Introduction (NPI) into the business is smooth and profitable.

Duties will include:

Liase with customer representatives and internal departments to develop project scope and plan as part of the formal RFQ to customer and prior to projects being launched and to be t he first point of contact and liaison for all issues related to nominated projects.
Assign (in line with NPI requirements), lead and direct cross functional teams required to successfully complete assigned projects. Ensure an efficient and effective interface with all departments and management teams.
Compile, provide and maintain detailed project management information and reports to meet customer / internal objectives and milestones, such as; project plans, timelines, resource / engineering / manufacturing schedules, cost performance tracking and project status reports.
Instigate and attend regular project meetings to ensure projects are managed or new business introduced in line with the NPI process.
Prepare and conduct project or product related presentations in support of customer or internal meetings.

Skills, Training & Experience

A Project Management background (preferably in Aerospace or Engineering) is essential. Additionally, experience of budgeting, planning and scheduling coupled with the ability to reason and negotiate are highly desirable. Well-developed IT skills are essential including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Project. Also it is necessary to understand the company ERP system.

We are looking for self-motivated people who can demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity and accuracy. You will be used to working as part of a team to meet production targets whilst maintaining high quality standards. Some relevant experience is desirable but all new employees receive full training and the opportunity to develop new skills and progress their career.
